Iraq War

As far as resources go, I am going to naively rely on the candidates' own sites for this blog.

Ladies first:
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Source: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/iraq/
Summary of her Iraq plans: She wants our troops to begin withdrawing immediately, will aim to end the war ASAP, and has details on her site about how to do this without screwing ourselves and Iraqis.
Regarding when the troops would be out of Iraq- This is from the debate on 1-31-08:
Source: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/31/dem.debate.transcript/
BLITZER: But you can't make a commitment, though, that 16 months after your inauguration will be enough time?
CLINTON: I certainly hope it will be. And I've said I hope to have nearly all of them out within a year.

The Newbie:
Barack Obama
Source: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/iraq/
Summary quoted from website: "Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months."

The old guy:
John McCain
His site: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/fdeb03a7-30b0-4ece-8e34-4c7ea83f11d8.htm
Summary: He would have us stay in Iraq until we "succeed." He has details on how to accomplish success in Iraq on his site. And yeah, he's the one that made the "100 years" comment. See: http://www.democrats.org/a/2008/01/day_3_mccain_wa.php

Would the real Christian please stand up?
Mike Huckabee
His site: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=2
Summary on Iraq from his site: "Setting a timetable for withdrawal is a mistake. This country has never declared war until "a week from Wednesday," we have always declared war until victory." "I am focused on winning. Withdrawal would have serious strategic consequences for us and horrific humanitarian consequences for the Iraqis."
Running Mate: Stephen Colbert, see site: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/01/breaking-news-h.html
(And yeah, I know, probably not actually going to happen, but the facts that are out there are all quotes from Huckabee asking Colbert to be his running mate... So...)

Is Ron Paul still running?
YES!
From his site: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/
"Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican."
And in case you want it- here is Paul's view on the war:
" On my first day as commander-in-chief, I will direct the Joint Chiefs of Staff and our commanders on the ground to devise and execute a plan to immediately withdraw our troops in the safest manner possible."
