- I am developing my American Dream and learning about the possible Presidential Candidates. In the process I'm letting everyone read the facts I have found about candidates on my blog, and the comedy I have found to help me deal with the state of the Union. The American Dream SMASHED
Mission: To provide FACTS about Presidential Candidates along with a little comedy to help the facts get digested.
I am here to tell you to keep your American Dream alive! You must do this internally, and I feel that participating in the 2008 election will help you to connect yourself to something bigger than yourself. Work to get your hopes and dreams realized in the executive office. Remember- the President should speak for what WE want. So I ask you: What do YOU want?
I am not saying that everyone's American Dream has been "smashed." Hell, you could take it to mean that you are drunk as you reach for your dreams... However my experience has been different. It is not the fault of anyone other than myself that my original "American Dream" failed when I was 21 years old. When the time was right I revisited what my American Dream could be. I had a hard time getting over my old ideas when it came to me that I must SMASH those old dreams to create a new one from scratch.
I am still working on that dream. As it develops I find myself growing. I feel that who we have in the White House affects each of us and our American Dream. Most days young people, like me, in their teens and twenties feel that what happens in the White House does not effect our daily lives. May I just say that what happens regarding Iraq affects us all, whether we like it or not. It is effecting our economy and our spirit. I am not saying you should listen to me about how to view the war- other than the fact that it is a part of our daily lives and is an issue in this election. I ask you to find out what you think is best for this country (your neighbors), and then put your vote where your mouth is. If our spirit is dampened, our dreams are dismissed as unnecessary.
July 4th, 1776 the words in a preamble to the United States Declaration of Independence provided us with the ultimate American FACTS:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." -
